Unsurprisingly, the entire hair loss treatment is a very lucrative industry not because hair loss products today are effective against hair loss, but because people have become desperate about this perennial problem. In addition to that, baldness was once considered a man's issue, but women's tendency to experience hair loss is just as high, although somehow delayed by 10 years.
However, the modern society still considers bald women a taboo, and although male pattern baldness is not unusual, men would rather prefer to keep their locks, as they grow old. This issue on hair loss all boils down to one thing – aesthetics. As much as people want to look younger is also the desire for "more hair".
Viviscal is considered one of the most promising hair loss products today. In fact, the Cosmopolitan magazine dubbed this product as the "miracle mane" pill, but the Viviscal product line actually includes a shampoo, conditioner, and scalp lotion on top of the pill. So how is this product different from the hundreds of hair loss treatments attempting to ultimately treat hair loss?
Viviscal belongs to the natural hair loss treatments category since it utilizes naturally derived ingredients. So this product from Finland promises to grow hair faster and healthier, but how safe or effective is it?
These are more likely common questions from desperate consumers. Viviscal's active ingredients are chiefly extracts from seafoods such as silica, cartilaginous marine extract, and acerola extract along with Viviscal vitamins C and a host of amino acids.
Simply put, Viviscal doesn't alter any hormonal imbalance or have chemicals that inhibit some biological metabolic process unlike the two FDA-approved medications for hair loss. What hair formula 37 or Viviscal does is nourish the hair to make it grow to its maximum rate and look healthy. In clinical studies, Viviscal has also been shown to increase the density of thinning hair, as well as hinder the devastating effects of hair loss.
Pictures of new hair growth from Viviscal comparing the before-and-after effects also reveal thicker hair after a certain period of use. The effects of Viviscal seem to vary from individuals. Some users claim to obtain positive results as early as the first month, while others reportedly did not see any results even after six months of using the product.
The first noted clinical trial of Viviscal involved 20 patients who were experiencing alopecia areata for an average of nine years; and 20 patients with alopecia totalis for an average duration of 7 years. The subjects were treated with 2 pills of Viviscal Liniment once daily and Viviscal shampoo 2-3 times a week for eight months.
Most of the patients were already under minoxidil or systemical corrricosteriod treatment for some time prior to the study. After six months of use, 19 of the patients reported significant improvement where hair loss and hair growth is concerned. Specifically, the patients observed a mean increase of 38% compared to only two percent increase in subjects using fish extract alone.
Of course, a product's efficacy can be evaluated only after a series of clinical trials. For this reason, another larger and longer was conducted this time involving 97 members of the Swedish Alopecia Association (RFH) with either alopecia totalis, alopecia areata, and alopecia universalis. After taking two Viviscal pills dialy for 12 months, generally, the subjects observed as much as 70 – 95% hair regrowth.
With all these tests on hair loss treatments being conducted all over the world, one can only construe that the future of hair loss treatments looks brighter than finding a cure for impatience. Because results of hair loss treatments can sometimes be elusive for some people, alopecia sufferers can begin to build two important virtues: patience and self-esteem
