Hair Genesis is a product line formulated with natural ingredients that seem to exhibit DHT-inhibiting abilities. The key ingredient in this commercial hair loss treatment is saw palmetto extract. Did that ring a bell? If you have an enlarged prostate, you have most likely encountered saw palmetto – the herb that can relatively treat symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
BPH and androgenetic alopecia seemed to go through similar endocrinologic pathways and that is the conversion of DHT from testosterone by the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase. This is what inspired the scientist who conceived Hair Genesis, Dr. Geno Marcovici. Since 1995, Dr. Marcovici has been researching on combining ”naturally derived botanical substances" that could inhibit the metabolic activity that precipitates male-pattern baldness.
Coming up with an excellent combination of different botanical substances was a challenge enough for Dr. Marcovici, but what posed to be a more difficult task was to combine these substances in appropriate levels so that they remain stable and maintain strength in a solution.
With that objective, Dr. Marcovici discovered the formulation for Hair Genesis. Each Hair Genesis soft gels contain 50mg BetaSitosterol, 200mg saw palmetto extract, 50mg lecithin, 100mg Inositol, 25mg Phosphatidyl Choline, 15mg Niacin, and 100mcg Biotin. The complete Hair Genesis product line includes Hair Genesis soft gels, Hair Genesis Topical Activator Serum, Hair Genesis Revitalizing Formulation, and Hair Genesis Hair and Scalp Conditioner.
The rationale behind the product line is to spurt hair regrowth using a combination of oral and topical treatments, as well as shampoos and conditioner. In medical treatments, Rogaine (minoxidil) was observed to have more positive results when used in conjunction with Retin-A (tretinoin).
Hair Genesis Product Review
The manufacturer of Hair Genesis is currently conducting clinical studies in the centers that perform the studies for FDA review. Hair Genesis carries the claim of acting like minoxidil in halting hair loss and promoting hair regrowth. Technically, the product contains 5% Minoxidil for men, and 2% Minoxidil for women – so it should be able to grow hair.
So far, the only clinical studies Hair Genesis was able to perform was a small uncontrolled study that involved 25-30 men and women. After an unspecified length of treatment, the product came with these results:
• It displayed no interactions with other drugs nor were there side effects noted.
• 100% of the participants observed no further shedding of hair
• 33% of the participants in one study noticed hair thickening, while more participants or 84% from the other study reported the same thing.
• 7% of the participants reported significant increase in hair volume with continuous treatment, while none of the participants from the other study reported similar treatments.
So that leaves a question to the consumers, does Hair Genesis work? Or is Hair Genesis safe for women? Obviously, Hair Genesis reviews are not authorized to present information that can affirm the effectiveness of the product. Moreover, the manufacturer has not evaluated the product from extensive, controlled-placebo type of studies.
For now, consumers can safely conclude that there is insufficient data to prove the efficacy of the Hair Genesis product line. It also contains ingredients, such as Saw Palmetto, which in rare instances was previously linked to gynocomnestia or breast tissue growth. On the other hand, oral minoxidil is known to lower blood pressure, dizziness and water retention especially in female patients, in rare instances.
Hair Genesis can be purchased online through the Hair Genesis official website. Hair loss treatment should only come next to safety. It is important that you discuss it with your doctor before using Hair Genesis, since you might be allergic to any of its ingredients.
